Her sound is shaped by the universal lyricism of Nigerian singer-songwriter Asa and the authentic, confident jazz of South African pianist Thandi Ntuli, who inspired Biya to write truthfully about her own experiences.

From Kampala, Uganda, Jon Muq is a vocalist and songwriter who creates soul-filled Afro-pop music on his debut album, produced by Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys). It was released through Dan’s Easy Eye Sound label on May 31st, 2024, and showcased on PBS Newshour.
Now living in Austin, TX, Muq has performed in the U.S. with Corinne Bailey Rae, The Black Keys, Trevor Hall, Valerie June, and the Secret Sisters, and in Europe with Mavis Staples and Norah Jones, and with Billy Joel in London’s Hyde Park.
Muq is co-writing and producing AfroBeats music with artists from Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria for the Shake It Africa record label, which he has co-founded.
